1. Who We Are

Journey Sparks is an iOS application developed and operated by Vivra, Inc.(“we”, “our”, “us”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the Journey Sparks app.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Email address and password (if you create an account)
  • Username or display name
  • Profile photo (optional)
  • Walk reflections, mood logs, journal entries, and photos you voluntarily add
  • Your default starting location (if you choose to set one)

Information Collected Automatically

  • Location data (with your permission) — used to generate location-relevant exploration prompts and to record your walk route. We do not store precise GPS coordinates beyond what is needed for these features.
  • Walk session data — topics chosen, lenses selected, exploration style, walking distance preference
  • App usage patterns — to personalize your exploration experience over time
  • Device information — operating system version, for compatibility purposes

Information from Third Parties

  • Weather data from a third-party weather provider (no personal data is shared)
  • Maps and geocoding via Google Maps API (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To generate personalized exploration prompts based on your interests, location, and history
  • To provide and improve the AskSparkie AI companion experience
  • To maintain your walk history and reflection journal
  • To compute your walk streak and territory map visualization
  • To personalize your exploration profile over time
  • To communicate with you about app updates or beta program news (only if you opt in)

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

4. AI and Automated Processing

Journey Sparks uses Google Gemini AI to generate exploration prompts and walk summaries. When generating a walk summary, the text of your reflection may be sent to Google's AI service. We do not include directly identifying personal data (such as your name or email) in these requests — only the content of your reflection and relevant context (topic, lens, location area).

AI-generated content is personalized to your exploration history and preferences. The system does not make any automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on you.

5. Data Storage and Security

  • Account data and walk history are stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud), which is SOC 2 and ISO 27001 certified
  • Local preferences and cached walk data are stored on your device
  • We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted data transmission (TLS) and secure authentication
  • We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time (see Your Rights below)

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to or restrict certain types of processing

7. Children's Privacy

Journey Sparks is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Location Data

Location access is requested to provide location-relevant exploration prompts and to record your walk route. We request two levels of access:

  • While Using the App — to find points of interest near you and generate relevant sparks
  • Always (Background) — to record your walk route while you explore, if you enable this feature

You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Journey Sparks. Without location access, Guided and Target exploration modes will be unavailable.

9. Camera and Photo Library

Camera and photo library access is requested only when you choose to capture or attach a photo to a reflection. We do not access your camera or photo library without your explicit action. Photos you attach are stored as part of your walk reflection in your account.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notice or email. The “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
